One of the biggest assets that I think PAPC has done for me is help me to be able to become a national account with vendors. That is very important in our business where a large percentage of it is controlling food costs.
PAPC takes a lot of the pricing out of it, where we used to do the three-bid and the chef would spend half his day getting prices for everything to see who we're going to buy from and now it's pretty much set. The timesavings administratively for small clubs is just tremendous. PAPC has become our purchasing agent. Prices are negotiated in advance. Being in a category lock, the prices are all set. The category lock is really what is important in food purchasing. I used a lot of input on equipment purchases and the design of the clubhouse in Murfreesboro. PAPC really helped out in the design process.

When your organization was just beginning to seek members, I was contracted and informed about how a membership in PAPC could benefit our club. At the time, we were deciding on a company to service our club for pest control. The company happened to be one of your growing lists of supply partners who gave a ten percent discount to PAPC members. We signed on and the savings paid our membership dues. I thought this was a really great proposition.


What I learned as the years moved along was that this first discount was only the "tip of the iceberg". We have saved thousands of dollars over this time on food purchases, supplies, swimming pool products and golf range equipment.
I have been considered a "Doubting Thomas" by the association over the years. However, there is no doubt that I made a good decision by joining PAPC program. You certainly have my support.

The Hurstbourne Country Club is a charter member of PAPC. I've used it consistently through the years for equipment and I usually get much better deals. I am excited about all the new programs they are rolling out and really appreciate the support. They have obviously shown that they are a very strong team and a very strong force to be reckoned with. If PAPC continues to grow at the rate they are growing, the dollar volume that PAPC will be doing with the supply partners will give us tremendous bargaining power.

We recently did a complete renovation where we were searching for new products for the kitchen and dining room. PAPC was able to give us the best deal, as well as name brand products and everything we needed in a timely manner. The result is absolutely gorgeous. All my pots, pans, utensils, every knick-knack came through PAPC, and PAPC beat everybody's prices by half. That is important when you are under budget constraints. I receive a weekly update on products. If I had stopped buying a certain type of French Fry and change to another, my salesman tells me and it shows up on my bid. It is easier on me; I get the products I need at the prices I desire. PAPC helps out a lot!

Throughout my last seven years in Nashville , the clubs I've managed have been a part of the Purchasing Association of Private Clubs. I first joined several years ago when I was at Brentwood Country Club. When I moved to the University Club of Nashville in 1995, one of the first things I did was call PAPC and get my new club signed up.

The reason I have been a devoted PAPC member is that they helped me control my food cost in a way that goes beyond what my chef can do. The folks at PAPC go to major purveyors and get their clients set up on a pricing tier that single location establishments, such as private clubs, usually can't get. Furthermore, PAPC will monitor your invoices throughout the year to make sure that your prices have not gone back up without your knowledge.
I have seen immediate food cost savings of two to three percent at my last two clubs when we joined PAPC. That means bottom line dollars at the end of the fiscal year, and I know that every manager wants that.

I am very pleased with the results of PAPC. Our club will be a part of this organization as long as I am here.

Although the Johnson City Country Club has only been a member of PAPC since February 2001, we have already seen substantial savings throughout our facility.
